On 27.11.2020 (Friday), the eighteenth (XVIII) Session of the Council for the Development of the Eastern Planning Region was held, which, due to the emerging state of emergency at the global level, COVID 19, was conducted online through the Zoom virtual platform.
The session was attended by the Mayors from the municipalities in the Eastern planning region, the Director of the Bureau for Regional Development Mr. Ramiz Redzepi, representatives from the Bureau for Regional Development and representatives from the “Sustainable and Inclusive Balanced Regional Development” project.
A key point of the XVIII Session of the Council for the Development of the Eastern Planning Region was the presentation of the proposed concept solutions, the fourth step of the concept for regional community forums, a tool for identifying, prioritizing and preparing projects for funding from the Program for Balanced Regional Development for 2021, administered through the Ministry of Local Self-Government and the Regional Development Bureau.
The proposed concept solutions were previously identified, based on the selected priority areas and sub-areas from the first forum session, which was conducted through an online questionnaire. Furthermore, with the hired external expert, Denis Zernovski, a field visit was conducted in all 11 municipalities and three dozen concept solutions were identified as a response to the problems identified by the population in the Eastern planning region.
At today’s meeting, based on the previously established criteria for regional character, the necessary financial resources for implementation and the maturity of the concept solutions, 15 concept solutions were presented by the external expert, and the Council for the Development of the Eastern Planning Region decided in the next steps to continue with the following five concept solutions:
1. City market in Delchevo – open and closed part – II phase;
2. Enrichment of the contents for recreation in the Eastern region – Stip Municipality and Kočani Municipality;
3. Installation of energy-efficient lighting on part of the main road entrance – exit Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica;
4. Arrangement of the Lesnovo regional cultural-tourist complex;
5. Development of sports-recreational and lake tourism and improvement of the infrastructure in the Eastern planning region through the construction of a local road in the tourist settlement Berovsko Ezero.
In the coming days, a second forum session will be held for these five concept solutions, through which the population of the region will have the opportunity to give comments and recommendations for their improvement, so that in the end, the Council for the Development of the Eastern Planning Region will determine the annual priority list of project proposals for funding from the Program for Balanced Regional Development for 2021.
The entire process of identifying project proposals for funding through the Program for Balanced Regional Development in 2021 is supported within the framework of the project “Sustainable and Inclusive Balanced Regional Development”, a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Ministry of Local Self-Government.
