On the 17th and 18th of December 2011, the Ministry of Local Self-Government and the Center for Development of the East Planning Region (composed of eleven municipalities within the region) in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Ministry of Economics, the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Macedonia, the Agency for Employment of the Republic of Macedonia, University Goce Delchev in Shtip, the Municipality of Shtip, and the Council for Development of the East Planning Region held the first Employment Fair at the “Bezisten” in Shtip.
The event was opened by Deputy Minister Sasho from the Ministry of Local Self Government.
The project is being implemented as part of the work program of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for the period 2011-2015 with the aim of bringing together the business community, employers, and the unemployed of the East Planning Region.
The companies attending the fair had the opportunity to present their business development plans, employment opportunities and needs for a professional staff to the unemployed while simultaneously learning about the programs and measures of relevant institutions for supporting the business community in reducing the level of unemployment.
To this end, on the 18th of December a forum was held in the meeting hall of the Municipality of Shtip which presented firms and unemployed individuals with the measures and activities being taken by the Republic of Macedonia via the various ministries and institutions to address this difficult problem.
The East Planning Region was selected as the pilot project for the larger project which will be held twice in each of the eight planning regions during 2012.
The event was financed by the GIZ RED Program for Economic Development in the Republic of Macedonia.
