Participation of representatives of the Centre for Development of East Planning Region at an international conference on the theme “WE ARE THE PARKS”

By EUROPARC and Parc Jura vaudois Switzerland was organized conference “WE ARE THE PARKS” which was held in St.-George Switzerland.

Conference objectives were to learn about the progress of the Strategy approved by the members of EUROPARC, as well as other initiatives, events and plans for the future of the Federation.

By the Centre for Development of East Region of the Conference was attended by two representatives presented the “Programme for Conservation of Nature in Macedonia” and the results of it funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation – Swiss Confederation, which is already in implementation (fifth year) by the EPR. Learning the principles of EUROPARC and the benefits of declaring protected areas of varying degrees in the Member States is essential for participants of CDEPR, bearing in mind that the Centre should in future be a leader and example for other centers in Republic Macedonia for nature conservation and its sustainable management.

At the conference representatives from different countries presented their experience in managing protected areas, strengths, challenges faced and how you solved problems that arise.

This conference is of particular importance for the Centre for Development of East Planning Region and the municipalities in the region on whose territory there are natural rarities and in the future may be declared as protected areas of different levels of protection and of different types.

The existing research and activities conducted through the Project “Programme for Conservation of Nature in Macedonia” supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation, Pharmachem Ltd Skopje and the Centre for Development of East Planning Region mapped multiple locations that can be declared as natural rarities. For these areas there are elaborates declaring the natural rarities in several municipalities, and they will be submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning to obtain Act declaring a natural rarity.
