On March 18, 2019, a workshop on standards in tourism and categorization of objects was organized in the municipality of Delcevo, within the established Coordinative body for tourism development in the East planning region.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of local administrations in relation to their roles in the implementation of the Law on Tourism, as well as to familiarize with the minimum the standards necessary for carrying out the tourism activity and the services provided for the development of rural, ecological and ethno tourism .
At the workshop there were also representatives from the private sector in the East Planning Region who had a chance to hear about the minimum necessary conditions for the categorization of accommodation facilities and to exchange their experiences and suggestions in the direction of improving the tourist attractiveness of the East Planning Region.
At the same time, the experience of the Berovo municipality was presented for the successful operation in the tourism and catering sector as an example of the performance of the local self-governments in the maintenance of the Register for small accommodation facilities within the municipalities and their categorization.
The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and Catering within the Ministry of Economy, and is supported within the framework of the Nature Conservation Program in Macedonia – Phase 2, a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
