The Center for Development of the Eastern Planning Region has begun the implementation of a new project co-financed by the European Union, which is being implemented for the first time under the Interreg Europe program.
The project “ACTAge – Active Ageing Centres: Enhancing Social, Physical, and Mental Health for Elderly Well-Being” is coordinated by the Lead Partner, Directorate General for Elderly People and Active Participation of the Government of the Canary Islands and is implemented in collaboration with 9 other partner organizations from 8 countries of the European Union.
The ACTAge project focuses on improving fragmented care for the elderly by promoting active and healthy aging through multidisciplinary spaces and policies. By moving from a needs-based approach to a rights-based approach, the project will address the right of older people to equal opportunities and treatment.
The main objective of ACTAge is to change policies for elderly care that integrate health care, social support, recreation, sport and psychological services. Through proactive health assessments, preventive interventions and interdisciplinary collaboration, the project aims to reduce pressure on acute care services, reduce healthcare costs and foster inclusive communities.
The project foresees activities for the exchange of knowledge and experiences with European partners that should result in the improvement of regional strategic documents in the field of social protection and will be implemented by 31.07.2029.
