The Center for Development of the Eastern Planning Region in the period from 06 – 07 November 2025 at Hotel Izgrev Shtip, organized a two-day training on strengthening the capacities for the development of green infrastructure, for representatives from the municipalities within the Eastern Planning Region and from the Municipality of Gotse Delchev, Republic of Bulgaria, within the framework of the project: “Transforming urban areas with green infrastructure” EcoScape BGMK0300060, financially supported by the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Interreg-IPA Bulgaria-North Macedonia INTERREG VI-A IPA 2021-2027.
The program for implementing the trainings, in addition to the exchange of experiences and best practices in the field of green infrastructure, also includes new innovative approaches, modern equipment and practices for establishing green infrastructure in the cross-border region.
The first training session explained in detail the basics of green infrastructure and the principles and measures for green transition, and the participants had the opportunity to learn about the benefits of introducing green infrastructure, as an appropriate way to sustainably solve some of the communal problems, ways and opportunities for creating green areas in urban areas, and methods for proper planning of the future development of cities and other smaller settlements in the cross-border region.
Through group work, several measures for introducing green infrastructure and green transition of cities were identified.
Around 30 representatives from the East Planning Region and the Municipality of Goce Delchev participated in the training.
In the period from 03-04 December 2025, it is planned to hold the second two-day training session within the framework of activity 1.4. strengthening the capacities for the development of green infrastructure.
