The workshop on “Development of Social Services in the Eastern Planning Region” was held on 27.11.2024 (Wednesday) starting at 10 am by the “Center for Development of the Eastern Planning Region”.
The goal was to strengthen the capacities of municipalities and centers for development of the planning regions in their role in improving the standard of living, quality and well-being of citizens and preventing social exclusion.
The workshop was led by Elena Kochova, an activist and expert on human rights and disability, who with her conceptual presentation raised useful questions and developed an excellent discussion among the attendees. The focus of the workshop was on the social security of citizens regardless of their identity characteristics. In the first session, existing services for ensuring an inclusive community were identified, and then in the following sessions, the principles and approaches to creating social services at the regional level were presented.
In a working atmosphere and divided into groups of teams, the attendees worked on identifying problems and overcoming challenges with proposed solutions and initiatives, which led to the conclusions that greater synergy, cooperation and networking between social protection councils, development centers and institutions are needed, improved mapping of target groups, thorough analysis of the situation, categorization of services and informing citizens through appropriate and effective promotion of social protection measures. The main goal of the workshop is to confront and network all affected parties in a functional inclusive community and to integrate the Social Protection Councils of the planning regions as an important link in the system.
The result and the discussion at the end showed that such workshops are more than necessary due to the complexity of regulating social protection and insist on thorough and cohesive work in all segments in order to achieve true inclusive cohesion.
