The Center for Development of the Eastern Planning Region – Shtip, has started the implementation of the project: Preventive Approaches to the Conservation of European Cultural Heritage – PROTECH 2024, funded by the INTERREG EUROPE 2021–2027 program. In addition to the Center for Development of the Eastern Planning Region – Shtip, 8 more partners from 7 countries are participating in the implementation of the project. The lead partner is the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage. Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport. Regional Government of Castilla y León from Spain, while the other partners are:
- Stad Antwerpen from Belgium,
- Eesti Sõjamuuseum – Kindral Laidoneri Muuseum (Estonian War Museum – General Laidoner Museum) – Estonia;
- Langhe Monferrato e Roero Società Consortile a r.l. Agenzia di Sviluppo del territorio (Langhe Monferrato and Roero Development Agency) – Italy;
- Institutul Național pentru Cercetare și Formare Culturală (National Institute for Cultural Research and Training) – Romania;
- Közép-Dunántúli Regionális Innovációs Ügynökség Nonprofit Kft. (Central Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency) – Hungary;
- Fundación Santa María la Real del Patrimonio Histórico (Saint Mary the Royal Foundation of Historic Heritage) – Spain; and
- Kultuuriministeerium (Ministry of Culture) – Estonia.
The main objective of the project is to exchange experiences and good practices in the field of social and technological innovation among the partners in order to improve the adoption and use of heritage management policies, to review the different instruments, as well as to identify new projects and services.
The specific objectives are to exploit the achievements in terms of social innovation, new technologies, data management and artificial intelligence, so that heritage management can become more efficient, inclusive and resilient. From a medium-term perspective, the goal is to contribute to the preservation of European tangible and intangible heritage for future generations.
In the period from 13-16. 05.2025, representatives from the Center for Development of the Eastern Planning Region – Shtip, participated in the kick-off meeting (KICK-OFF MEETING) of the PROTECH 2024 project, in Valladolid – Spain. The topic of the kick-off meeting was “Sharing experiences and new technologies for the conservation of European cultural heritage”.
For this purpose, the Center for Development of the Eastern Planning Region (CREPR) prepared a presentation introducing the Republic of North Macedonia, the Eastern Planning Region and CREPR, as well as the strategic documents, organizational structure, implemented projects and future plans related to this project.
The meeting discussed the method of project implementation.
The event “Chetrse”, which is an intangible cultural heritage included in the UNESCO list, is part of the application and will be visited and presented to the project partners. According to the application, a promotional video and other promotional materials will be produced for it, as well as for the other cultural heritage sites from the Eastern Planning Region, which are on the lists of the Ministry of Culture and UNESCO.
