In the period from September 24 to 25, 2025, at Hotel IZGREV Shtip, the first two-day training for the development of a Joint Strategy for Green Infrastructure (2025 – 2035) for the East Planning Region and the Municipality of Gotse Delchev, Republic of Bulgaria, was held.
The first two-day training was attended by about 30 representatives from public, educational and non-governmental organizations within the East Planning Region.
The participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the development methodology and the basic principles of the “green city” concept.
What is a green city, urban metabolism, nature-based solutions, as well as for a just urban transition.
Within the framework of the training, a special part was dedicated to the regulatory framework, policies, legislation, obligations and other processes.
Through interactive exercises, the participants developed a vision for the transformation of communities through sustainable and inclusive urban development and generated concrete ideas that can be incorporated into local and regional development strategic documents.
The development of the first Green Infrastructure Strategy is funded within the framework of the project: “TRANSFORMING URBAN AREAS WITH GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE” ECOSCAPE BGMK0300060, financially supported by the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Interreg-IPA Bulgaria-North Macedonia INTERREG VI-A IPA 2021-2027.
