Participation in the INITIAL INTRODUCTORY MEETING for the project: ACTAge

The project “Active Ageing Centers: Improving Social, Physical and Mental Health for the Well-being of Older People – ACTAge” officially launched in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, where, under the auspices of the Lead Partner in the project – General Directorate for Elderly People and the active participation of the Government of the Canary Islands, an Initial Introductory Meeting for the project was held from 24.09.2025 to 26.09.2025.

The transnational meeting was attended by representatives from the Center for Development of the Eastern Planning Region, which is one of the 10 partners involved in the project, which, within the framework of the Interreg Europe 2021–2027 Program, set the goal of establishing a multidisciplinary approach and improved policies aimed at caring for the elderly by promoting active and healthy aging.

The political instrument in the care of the elderly of the Leading Partner – Law 3/1996 was presented and the possibilities for its improvement were considered, project coordination was worked on, the work plan of the project was defined, and experiences were exchanged.

Representatives of the partner institutions in the project participated in field visits through which they were introduced to European practices for active aging and positive health concepts and their significance for the project.

The problems faced by the partners in the implementation of the project were identified and guidelines for further successful implementation were defined.

A workshop on the topic of “Healthy Communities” was also held, at which the participants were introduced to the concept of urbanism, arrangement of public spaces and community decisions in favor of the well-being of the population and active aging.
